After her embarrassing appearance with ORF satirist Peter Klien – the 23-year-old could not answer the question whether Norway is a member of the EU – Lena Schilling spoke out via Instagram. ‘Mistakes happen. “I can laugh about it today!” says the EU’s top candidate for the Greens, who is relatively calm about the online shitstorm. The green club chairman Sigrid Maurer also supports her.
She promised her followers that she would include them in the election campaign.
“Mistakes Happen”
“When things go well, but also when things don’t go well. Am I a little embarrassed? Yes of course. But you know what? Mistakes happen. I can laugh about it today! Have a sunny Sunday,” Schilling said in her video message.
“When was the euro introduced in Norway?”
Klien embarrassed top EU candidate Schilling with questions for his show “Good Night Austria”. When he asked: “When was the euro introduced in Norway?” was her response: “Eh! You caught me on the wrong track, unfortunately I don’t know that now… not at all, right?”
“Is Norway part of the EU?” Klien then asked Schilling. “For God’s sake! Now it’s getting embarrassing. Can I please have a phone prankster?” she said, smiling, before the ORF reporter himself explained to her: “Norway is not part of the EU.”
