The UN Children’s Fund warns that the war is “destroying children at a scale and speed not seen since World War II” and has called on the international community to fund humanitarian aid.

Some 5.2 million girls and boys from Ukraine, including 2.2 million refugees in other countries, urgent humanitarian aid needed as a result of a war that has forced two out of three minors in their country to leave their homes, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned today.
The war is having “devastating consequences for children on a scale and speed not seen since World War II,” UNICEF said in a statement to coincide with the celebrations of Children’s Day in Ukraine and other countries.
At least 262 girls and boys killed and another 415 injured in the conflict, mainly in explosive weapons attacks in populated areas, and many of these offensives have damaged or destroyed vital infrastructure for children, including hundreds of education centers and health facilities.
“War has destroyed the lives of millions of boys and girls,” UNICEF Director Catherine Russell summarized in the statement, stressing that “Without an urgent ceasefire and a negotiated peace, children will continue to suffer”while the consequences of the conflict will also affect the world’s vulnerable minors.”
United Nations agency warned that boys and girls fleeing violence in Ukraine are fleeing serious risk of family separation, violence, abuse, sexual exploitation, as well as falling into nets of about from people.
Most of them “have been exposed to traumatic events and urgently need help, security, stability, child protection and psychosocial support, especially those who are unaccompanied or separated from their families,” UNICEF said.
The organization that provided helps more than 610,000 children and psychosocial caregivers in conflicthas made telephone call to the international community worth $948 million (€885 million to finance southhumanitarian response both in Ukraine and in the host countries of Ukrainian refugees.
