20 people and a cat evacuated
The fire brigade needed heavy breathing protection to investigate the situation in the apartments located above the fire rooms. „“20 people had to leave their apartments, the majority had already taken to the streets on their own,” said a fire brigade spokesperson. Later, another cat was rescued from an apartment. “A search of the house and the subsequent registration of the residents showed that fortunately no people were missing. As far as we know, no one was injured,” the fire brigade spokesperson said.
Prevent spread
The quick and targeted action of the fire brigade (in addition to the FF Liezen-Stadt, colleagues from Pyhrn, Weißenbach bei Liezen, Selzthal and Wörschach were also involved) prevented the fire from spreading over a large area to neighboring buildings. “However, the heat was so intense that damage was even visible to the house opposite the fire location,” said the Liezen fire brigade.
Several hours of use
Thanks to the rapid intervention of a total of 95 fire brigades, the fire was brought under control very quickly, so that the first fire brigades could be withdrawn approximately two hours after being alerted. About four hours after the alarm went off, the operations manager was able to say “fire out.”
The residents of the affected apartments have been placed in temporary accommodation and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the police.
