A drunk driver in St. Johann in Tirol (Kitzbühel district) launched a rescue operation following a spectacular traffic accident on Monday evening. The 34-year-old fell into a stream and was unable to free himself. Nevertheless, the man was fortunate in adversity.
The 34-year-old from the Kufstein district wanted to turn off the Loferer Bundesstrasse towards Erpfendorf on Monday shortly after 9 p.m. when, for reasons that are still unclear, he lost control of his vehicle. The Unterländer first drove around a traffic sign and then broke through the guardrail, after which the car crashed into the Wieshofer Mühlbachl.
Alcohol drivers without a driver’s license
The fire brigade, rescue service and water rescue then came into action. They rescued the driver from the wreck and treated him at the scene. Fortunately, the 34-year-old was not injured in the accident. However, he was considerably drunk. The man’s driver’s license still could not be confiscated because he did not have one.
There was serious damage to his vehicle. In addition, part of the guardrail had to be removed to recover the car.
