A nine-year-old child got stuck in a tree at a height of three meters. He was stuck in a fork of a branch and could not free himself. His friends organized help. When emergency services arrived at the student, he was already almost in tears.
On Tuesday afternoon, four fire brigades – including two high-altitude rescue bases – had to go out in the municipality of Pasching for a strange rescue operation. A nine-year-old boy was playing with friends and climbed an old willow tree around 3:15 p.m.
When the boy was three meters high, he suddenly slipped off the trunk so badly that his left leg became seriously trapped in a fork of a branch. The student could no longer free himself and complained of pain.
Child was “pretty desperate”
The friends then rushed to a nearby house, whose owner immediately started the rescue chain. “When we arrived the boy was quite desperate. “By using ladders and muscle power, we were able to bend a branch so far that the boy was able to pull his knee out again,” says Dominik Wögerbauer, chief of operations at the Pasching fire brigade.
The nine-year-old received first aid from the Red Cross, but did not have to go to hospital. Fortunately, he only suffered minor abrasions.
