18 months in prison, six of which are unconditional: this is the punishment for a 42-year-old who burst into tears in court. The mother of five children tried to finance her life through burglaries and stealth thefts. However, it was not the first time she was in court.
‘I’m really sorry for what I did. I felt ashamed to ask my eldest son for help again. I didn’t know how I was going to pay for everything.” – A mother of five (42) children – three of her children are still minors – tearfully confessed to several burglaries and secret thefts. According to her own statement, the woman from Mühlviertel has no possessions, but debts of about 30,000 euros.
Already six previous convictions
Naturally, the woman was no stranger to the judiciary. The suspect had six previous convictions, four of which were relevant. It was only on September 25 last year that she was sentenced to an 18-month suspended prison sentence by the St. Pölten Regional Court for 153 property crimes. But the mother apparently learned nothing from her mistake; she was caught red-handed on December 2 and has been in custody ever since, with one brief exception.
During the hearing in Linz, the judge “again showed leniency”, but urgently addressed the thief’s conscience. The final verdict: 18 months in prison, six months of which are unconditional.
