On Sunday evening, a young woman was suddenly threatened with a bread knife by a 28-year-old in a guest garden in Vienna-Leopoldstadt. Her family, who was there, immediately alerted the police.
In the past, the Viennese would often sit down at the family table without being asked. The 25-year-old victim and the suspect did not know each other. It is still unclear what the man from the Viennese family wanted. After initially walking away from the Viennese table, he returned and suddenly pulled out the bread knife that he had with him in his backpack.
Mental problems
The victim’s mother knocked the knife out of the 28-year-old’s hand and, together with his grandfather, held the man down until emergency services arrived in Trabrennstrasse. The man is believed to have mental health issues. According to the police, he said during questioning that he had “a broken head”.
The 28-year-old was arrested on the spot and has filed a report on suspicion of making dangerous threats. He is currently in prison.
