Five women and seven men have successfully completed a two-year training course with the American space agency NASA and are now ready for missions in space. In 2020, around 12,000 people responded to a call for nominations. We are now looking for new students!
Four years ago, the requirements for an application were: U.S. citizenship, a master’s degree in a scientific field, at least two years of professional experience or at least 1,000 hours of flight training — and passing a fitness test.
From 12,000 applicants, four women and six men between the ages of 32 and 45 were selected from different regions of the US. Later, the two training candidates from the United Arab Emirates were added.
Applications before April 2
Anyone who wants to follow them can register for the next training until April 2, 2024. The same requirements apply as before. In total, NASA has selected approximately 360 astronauts in its history. Currently about 50 are actively available.
