During a practice run, a teenager’s (16) engine failed: car was hit by train

On Tuesday evening, a car was hit by a train in Waldegg in the Wiener Neustadt district (Lower Austria). During a practice drive, a 16-year-old’s car engine failed. She was taken to hospital with injuries.

Horror scenario during a practice ride! The young driver (16) stopped her car at a railway crossing controlled by traffic lights so that she could enter crossing traffic on the main road. The vehicle’s engine probably stalled during the stopping maneuver. The teen was unable to start the car. The car was then hit by a train.

Teen injured
Despite rapid emergency braking by the driver, the train car collided with the rear of the car. The 16-year-old had to be taken to the Wiener Neustadt regional hospital with injuries; her passenger was unharmed. The driver (59) and the six occupants of the train were also not injured.
