In a statement, these unions said that although the incidence varied between centres, it was “very clear” in all centres. The centers have been open but academic activity “has been very sparse” and they have specified that technical, management, administration and services staff, a quarter of the workforce, had not been called to strike.

The unions have indicated that, for example, in the faculties of Labor Relations, Education and Sports, Economics and Business Administration of Gasteiz, Social Sciences and Communication, Psychology, Education, Philosophy and Anthropology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Technology and Law, “there have hardly been any lessons. ” The same applied to the participation of professor-researchers from the UPV/EHU in the mobilizations that took place Bilbao, Donostia-San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz has been ‘very high’.

As they have stated, they will continue “to fight for a different university model, at the service of Basque society, where the working conditions of workers are decent.” For this reason, in addition to Thursday’s strike, the 12 March They call on teaching and research staff and the rest of the UPV/EHU employees to join the public sector strike.
