Major operation Wednesday evening in Tyrol: After a gas pipe was damaged during construction work in Jenbach, there was also danger in the adjacent apartment building. But after the measurements there was soon a sigh of relief.

The incident took place around 6 p.m. during core drilling for a hot water pipe in the apartment building on Herbert-von-Pichler-Straße. A natural gas pipe was drilled into the concrete wall, causing a strong gas leak to the outside and a distinct smell of gas was noticeable.

The control center alerted the emergency services
A 25-year-old local resident involved in the work immediately made an emergency call, after which the Tyrolean control center started the rescue chain. The Jenbach fire brigade has cordoned off a large area of ​​the accident scene. By shutting off the main gas line, another major gas leak was prevented. An inspection of all rooms and apartments in the apartment complex found no dangerous gas concentrations. The all-clear was given around 6:25 p.m. None of the residents had to be evacuated. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
