Former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette (65) is unlikely to be released from prison anytime soon. There are several arrest warrants against her, for example one from 2018. She was taken into custody in Karlsruhe on Thursday (see video above).
This means that someone is already in custody or in custody and a new arrest warrant is issued. However, this will not have any concrete consequences for the time being. Klette is charged in two cases with attempted murder and attempted explosive explosion in three attacks between February 1990 and March 1993. According to a spokeswoman, his membership of the terrorist organization Red Army Faction (RAF) has now expired.
Attack on the administration building and the American embassy
For example, on February 13, 1991, the prisoner, together with other RAF members, allegedly carried out a firearms attack on the American embassy in Bonn-Bad Godesberg. At least ten people were in the affected part of the building at the time of the crime. In another case – on February 20, 1990 – an explosive explosion was allegedly planned in the Deutsche Bank administration building. According to the federal prosecutor’s office, the only reason that an explosion did not occur was the failure of the detonation device.
In addition, on March 27, 1993, an explosive attack was carried out on the newly built, but not yet occupied, Weiterstadt prison near Darmstadt. Security officers were also overwhelmed. Klette is said to have been involved with the wanted former RAF terrorists Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg.
Raids
As reported, Klette was arrested in Berlin at the end of February after more than thirty years underground. The proceedings of the Public Prosecution Service of Verden are also directed against Staub and Garweg. This concerns suspicions of attempted murder and serious robberies from the period 1999 to 2016.
