On February 23 at 8:55 p.m., a young Afghan entered a red-light district in Vienna-Brigittenau. A short time later, three sex workers were killed, the 27-year-old stabbed the victims almost a hundred times. For the first time, the “Krone” now has the reconstruction of the brutal attacks and crime scenes. But who is Ebadullah A. actually?
“God punished me. He punished me with my own knife. Look at my hands.” When these words were spoken during the police interrogation, the 27-year-old Afghan had already literally slaughtered three Chinese women in an Asian studio in Vienna. Forensic medicine counted 96 stitches among the victims. So violent that the tip of the weapon breaks off.
The “Krone” now has a reconstruction of the attacks and images of the crime. A. had cut off his own right hand during the crime – after the arrest he was taken away on a stretcher (see photo).
A. had a total of three knives with him that night. The Afghan stabbed him with one of them. One of the victims: ‘Emi’ (46). She, the studio boss and another sex worker will not leave the establishment alive that night.
Only one other woman survived; she was able to lock herself in a room in time. But her colleague’s death screams will probably haunt her for the rest of her life.
Stopped studying and left home
But who exactly was this man who murdered out of bloodlust that evening? And what drove him to this heinous act? Ebadullah A. is originally from Afghanistan. After the Taliban came to power, he is said to have abandoned his computer science studies in his home country and fled to Austria via Turkey and the Western Balkans route at the end of 2021.
“Must wage jihad against the enemy”
He then “read the Quran and learned that I must wage jihad against the enemy.” Before him, prostitutes are “under the monument of Satan.” Weeks before the violent explosion, A’s psychological condition is said to have deteriorated drastically. On February 23, he finally entered the Asia Studio after a visit to the mosque. With one goal: to kill.
