Huts near Seefeld – Desolate ‘haunted houses’ become meeting places for young people

Date:

Two dilapidated houses near Seefeld in Tyrol – one of which is called ‘Waldruh’ – are currently causing unrest among the population. It is not just children playing and young people partying in the neglected walls. Drugs will probably be consumed there too. But the community can do nothing.

Many children and young people on the Seefeld Plateau have long discovered the “Ghost Inn” directly on the Wildsee as an adventure playground and would have held one or two parties there. But few people seem to be aware that the ruins also harbor a wealth of dangers.

Two former restaurants in a prime location directly on the Seefelder Wildsee have been in disrepair for decades. Hundreds of visitors pass here every day as they stroll along the idyllic promenade around the Wildsee.

“I really enjoy going to Reith near Seefeld at the weekend to enjoy the nature around the Seefelder Wildsee with my two children,” says a father about his recent experiences and sounds the alarm. “As we passed the vacant houses ‘Waldruh’ and ‘Drei Tannen’, we saw two children around the age of twelve playing high up on the roof – estimated at ten meters away. Because I am a father myself, I was worried and took the children off the completely deserted roof,” reports the father, who wants to remain anonymous.

“An eyesore for the tourist seaside resort of Seefeld”
He also took the opportunity to look around the neglected property: “As all the doors had been kicked open and all the windows broken, it was only then that I saw what a ticking danger this was: there were about 15 people, including children, in the completely filthy, houses everywhere are covered with broken glass.”

Friends have been meeting there for months, especially on weekends. “It’s only a matter of time before something bad happens because the kids were also smoking and drinking alcohol! I don’t understand why the community isn’t doing anything. This is also an eyesore for the tourist seaside resort of Seefeld, where thousands of guests pass by every week when they go for a walk.”

“Krone” on-site inspection
The homes in question are located in the municipality of Reither on the border with Seefeld in a prime location directly on the lake. The former restaurants have been in disrepair for more than 30 years. Spruce and shrubs grow on a terrace, according to a local inspection by the “Krone”. There is no fencing or a ‘No Trespassing’ sign anywhere. Everyone seems to be able to do what they want here. No wonder that children and young people from the surrounding region have discovered this “lost place” as “their adventure playground”.

It can be assumed that the location is also used as a drug transfer or consumption point. Spoons lying around indicate this.

Buildings are dilapidated, the community can do nothing
“The buildings are dilapidated,” says Reither BM Dominik Hiltpolt, but emphasizes that the municipality cannot intervene as long as there is no danger from falling parts. The property is privately owned by an Austrian who spends most of his time abroad. Who is liable in the event of an accident? “The owner is usually liable,” says the village boss, who is also the construction authority in the first instance. “It’s a different matter if you’re staying on the property illegally. This is ultimately a civil law issue.”

The last time he spoke to the owner was about a year ago. He has not yet commented on what he will do with the ruins.
