Defendant on the line – Eleven years in prison for the ‘right hand’ of mafia godfathers

Date:

The alleged ‘right-hand man’ of alleged mafia godfather Dario D. alias ‘Dexter’, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in Vienna in December 2023, was convicted by the Vienna Regional Court on Tuesday. 29-year-old Dejan S. was sentenced to eleven years in prison for bringing 43 kilos of cocaine and 39 kilos of heroin to Austria within two months and for marketing seven kilos of narcotics.

Dario D.’s right-hand man, alias “Dexter”, was sentenced to eleven years in prison by the Vienna Regional Court on Tuesday. Dejan S. brought large quantities of cocaine and heroin to Austria within two months. The verdict is not yet final because both the defense and the public prosecutor have appealed.

Strict security measures
As with the now convicted mafia godfather Dario D. alias “Dexter”, the trial took place under strict security measures, with a massive presence of security forces and an absolute ban on photography and film. Anyone who wanted to succeed and go to trial had to identify themselves with an identity card, with the data recorded in writing by officials of the Federal Criminal Police.

Dejan S. was handcuffed and chained and escorted into the room by heavily armed officers. The 29-year-old was also on a leash: he wore a belt around his stomach with a large loop, the end of which was carefully held in his hand by an officer sitting close to the suspect.

Rejected connections
The 29-year-old denied any connection to the “Dexter” organization and complained about prison conditions. He is under investigation for involvement in a murder in Serbia.

Brutal methods
The prosecution is based on intercepted chats documenting the criminal activities. “Dexter” has already been sentenced to life in prison, but his case is still pending.

The chats show the brutal methods of “Dexter” and his role as leader of the Montenegrin Kavac clan, to which numerous murders are attributed in addition to drug and arms trafficking. “Dexter” was heard as a witness during the trial, but for security reasons via video conference.
