The Republican leader celebrated and spoke about his victory in a video published on the social network X. “This has been a day of great victory (…) But now we have to get back to work because we have the worst president in the history of our country. His name is Joe Biden, also called the corrupt Joe Biden, and he must be defeated,” he said.
Hours earlier, US President Joe Biden had collected the necessary delegates to be the Democratic nominee by reaching 2,099 delegates as he needed 1,968 out of 3,934 to clinch the nomination. His election will be made official in Chicago in August.
“I am honored that the broad coalition of voters who represent the rich diversity of the Democratic Party across the country have once again placed their trust in me to lead our party and our country, at a time when the threat that (former President Donald Trump) ) Trump should be older than ever,” Biden said.
Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump, are heading for a rematch in the US presidential elections in November, repeating that electoral confrontation between the two lived during the 2020 elections, in a country polarized after the American tycoon’s surprise victory in 2016.
