Five shoplifters in Krems, Lower Austria, converted stolen goods into cash. They struck at several hardware stores and later exchanged the stolen goods. The handcuffs clicked on the highway.
Five men recently became regular customers in the Lower Austrian branches of a hardware store chain – but not in the way the company would like. Because the quintet helped themselves without paying.
In addition, they were particularly interested in locking cylinders and motion detectors, which they immediately took with them en masse. But the thieves could not use the items. On the contrary: their intention was to convert the goods back into money. To do this, they used the customer-friendly service that allowed them to return their own brands without an invoice. In Krems they recently exchanged much of the loot and received a four-figure sum in cash.
Between 25 and 35 years old
But the brutal act was still noticed. The German license plate of the getaway car was sent to the police and the car was eventually stopped on the A1 at the Steinhäusl junction. The Romanians, between 25 and 35 years old, were provisionally arrested. Further investigations are underway.
