A violent collision took place at an unprotected level crossing in Munderfing (Upper Austria) on Friday morning, which could not be prevented even by immediate braking by the driver.
A 36-year-old wanted to drive a small truck across an unrestricted railway crossing protected by a stop sign in his home municipality of Munderfing. At the same time, however, a train approached the Braunau railway line.
Braking quickly didn’t help
Despite immediate emergency braking by the operator, a collision occurred in which the operator of the small truck was injured to an unspecified degree and had to be taken to hospital.
The driver and 22 passengers were unharmed. The railway was closed for two hours.
