French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated in a live interview broadcast by several TV channels on Thursday evening that sending Western ground troops to Ukraine has not been ruled out. “All these options are possible.”
“To achieve peace in Ukraine, you cannot be weak,” Macron continued. We must be prepared to use all necessary means “to achieve our goal of ensuring that Russia does not win the war.” Because Russia does not impose limits on its war of aggression against Ukraine, the West does not need to impose limits on its support for the country, Macron continued.
At the same time, the 46-year-old emphasized that France would never lead an offensive because: “France is a peacekeeping force.” In the event of a Russian victory, however, life would change for the French. “We will no longer have security in Europe,” the president painted a threatening backdrop that has been put into play again and again by several NATO states since the outbreak of war in Ukraine in 2022.
Putin speaks of ‘nonsense’
In his address to the nation, the Russian president recently dismissed the fact that he also wanted to attack the West as ‘nonsense’. Instead, the country will increase its armament complex for its own security and also further strengthen the western flank of the gigantic empire because of the danger posed by NATO expansion.
