Around lunchtime on Thursday in Vienna-Floridsdorf, a woman had to watch as a small child fell from the window of a third-floor apartment and landed on a lawn.
The witness immediately alerted the emergency services. The two-year-old received emergency medical care from Vienna’s professional rescue service and was then flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. According to the police, the girl’s condition is said to be stable.
Child was unsupervised
Meanwhile, police were able to find out that the child’s mother had opened the windows to ventilate the room and briefly left the room to go to the toilet. When the two-year-old was in the room unattended, the accident happened.
The child and youth care services of the city of Vienna were informed about the incident. Further investigation into the mother’s criminal liability is ongoing.
