That must have been a spectacle: When the first skiers descended Krippenstein in Upper Austria around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, they discovered four Chinese tourists trying in vain to free their rental car stuck on the slopes. The vacationers wanted to admire the sunrise on the mountain.
“Car gets stuck on an open ski slope” – this police operation definitely falls into the bizarre category. The reason for this was four Chinese tourists who wanted to see the sunrise at Krippenstein on Christmas Day.
That’s why the four holidaymakers came up with a plan: drive up the mountain from the Czech Republic in a rental car! The group left around 6 a.m., first on a forest road, with a 29-year-old Chinese man behind the wheel.
Got stuck after ten meters
But after only ten meters the vehicle got stuck in the snow along the prepared ski slope. The four tourists tried together to get the car back onto the forest road. They showed perseverance, because when the first skiers came down the mountain at 9:30 am, the holidaymakers were still stuck in their rental car.
Fines for holidaymakers
The surprised skiers informed the operations manager and the police about the dire situation of the holidaymakers. With their combined efforts, the called helpers eventually managed to push the rental car undamaged down the slope and back onto the road.
The 29-year-old Chinese man was fined for violating the driving ban on the ski slopes.
