There was another devastating fire in Vienna-Simmering on Saturday evening. This time, however, it was not a basement fire, but an apartment fire. As firefighters battled the flames, they found a lifeless woman in an apartment.
On Saturday at 11 p.m., officers from the Simmering City Police Command were called to an apartment fire on Lorystrasse. While firefighters were battling the blaze, a lifeless woman was found in the apartment.
Despite immediate relief measures, all help for the woman came too late. The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department has already started an investigation. It is currently believed that the deceased was the 58-year-old resident.
Two cellar fires
Detectives have proposed an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, but there is currently no evidence of foul play. In the coming days, further investigation into the cause of the fire will be carried out together with a fire expert.
According to the Vienna police, the third fire in a row is probably not related to the cellar fires in recent days. Because the first two fires in Simmering were actually caused by an arsonist.
