Age does not protect against folly – William Shakespeare said this in ‘Antony and Cleopatra’. Apparently this wisdom has not yet spread to neighboring Wattwil (canton St. Gallen). With enough alcohol in his blood, a 76-year-old got behind the wheel on Sunday afternoon – and promptly crashed into a fence.
Without paying further attention to the damage of approximately 2,500 francs, the drink thrush fled from the scene of the accident. However, the senior had not made any calculations with the police. When contacted in the evening, they discovered that a motorist had vandalized the fence. The car and driver were quickly found.
The breath test was way too high
The senior apparently planned to park in front of one of the neighboring houses, but went astray. The police ordered a breath alcohol test, which showed a much too high value, and took a blood sample. The driver’s license will probably be gone for a while.
