Partly heavy snowfall will keep the winter services in Tyrol busy on Tuesday. The focus is mainly on the Brenner motorway. According to Asfinag, all available clean-up trucks are currently in use there. So far there have been no major disruptions. There have also been snow showers in Salzburg since the morning, sometimes heavy.
“Currently, the focus is clearly on the Brenner motorway between the border with Italy and Innsbruck-Süd,” Asfinag spokesman Alexander Holzedl said shortly before 10 a.m. in an interview with “Krone”.
17 winter service vehicles are in use on this route alone. “We are in full action there.” Due to the heavy snowfall, the roads were partially covered in slush – as was the case at the main toll station in Schönberg.
“Pre-preventatively salted”
In the course of the morning hours, the snowfall became more and more heavy. “We had already salted preventively at night and in the morning,” Holzedl continues. From the beginning of the afternoon there were no major traffic disruptions.
So far there have been no problems on the S16 Arlberg highway. There was a “completely normal” six-vehicle winter service. The A12 Inntalautobahn also passed without “snow problems”.
Sometimes snow chains are mandatory
No major problems were reported on the other roads in Tyrol either. According to the ÖAMTC, snow chains were mandatory in the morning, especially on higher elevations. For example on the Hahntennjoch between Imst and Pfafflar, between Haiming and Ochsengarten, between Pfunds and Samnaun or in the Ötztal between Kreuz-Huben and Sölden.
Fresh snow in Salzburg
The streets of Salzburg were also covered with fresh snow. The carriageway of the Tauernautobahn (A10) in Lungau was particularly hard hit. While it rains in the north of Salzburg, it snows incessantly in the south, especially in Lungau.
