The escaped 31-year-old thoroughbred mare “Epona” from Marz in Burgenland was alone in the forest for four days and three nights. With the help of hunters, forest rangers, the police and “Krone” readers, she is now back – with a message that could not only change the lives of her own family.
“We got her home safely. Thanks for the incredible support. If not so many people had reacted to the article in the Kronen Zeitung and kept their eyes open, this miracle would certainly not have been possible,” says Sandra Lehrner. The 52-year-old farmer’s wife, who runs a pig breeding and fattening business with her husband Josef between Marz and Sieggraben, really has every reason to be happy.
