In China, a teenager was allegedly murdered by three peers and buried in a hole. The case is causing a stir in the country. The 13-year-old victim disappeared on March 10 near the megacity of Handan in southern Hebei province and was later buried in an abandoned greenhouse, Chinese state media reported on Tuesday, citing police.
The greenhouse was located approximately 100 meters from the home of one of the suspects. According to an official statement, all suspects were arrested a day later. The case was now one of the most discussed topics on China’s state-controlled social media, such as the online platform Weibo. Initial findings showed investigators believed the crime was premeditated, a police officer said in an interview with Chinese state television on Monday.
Teenagers dug the hole for two days
The alleged perpetrators spent two days digging the 56 centimeter deep hole in the greenhouse, he explains. The televised police officer dismissed online claims that adults were involved as false.
The victim reportedly had injuries to his face and upper body
Authorities have since conducted an autopsy on the victim. A working group consisting of sixty police officers is investigating the case. There was initially no information about the reasons why the boy died. The Chinese newspaper ‘The Paper’ distributed a video online in which the lawyer for the victim’s family spoke about the ‘horrific sight’ of the dead boy. He also reported injuries to the teen’s face and upper torso.
