The Israeli army says it has killed three senior members of the Islamist Hamas in airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. The army said on Wednesday that they were representatives of the leadership in the city of Rafah. The men therefore died in air raids.
Hamas initially did not confirm the deaths of the three men. According to the Israeli army, Hamas members headed the terrorist organization’s so-called emergency office, which is responsible, among other things, for public order in the Gaza Strip. They are also said to have coordinated the activities of the Islamic organization on the ground. The information could not initially be independently verified.
Just last week, another senior Hamas member was reportedly murdered. This man is said to have led Islamic operations in the area. This information also could not be independently verified. Hamas generally does not comment on members being killed.
The delegation to Washington agreed
The Gaza War was sparked by the October 7 massacre carried out by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist Palestinian organizations in Israel near the coastal strip border. According to Hamas, more than 31,923 people have been killed and another 74,096 injured since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip. On Wednesday, Hamas’ health authority said another 104 people had been killed and 162 injured in just 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a call with US President Joe Biden, agreed to send a delegation to Washington next week. The White House wants to present alternatives to a new ground offensive in Rafah (see video above). The US government is not against targeted operations against the Hamas leadership.
