Circus animals on the road – not a mirage: Fleet camels as oncoming traffic

Date:

“Is this really happening, or am I dreaming?” Some drivers in the Tyrolean lowlands must have thought so recently, when runaway camels from a circus on the main road near Kirchbichl (Tirol) approached them.

If you’re driving to work at 6:30am, still a little sleepy and encountering a herd of camels, you might actually believe in a mirage. But it was no utopia.

On the main road near Kirchbichl, motorists were confronted with six humpback animals today. A driver filmed the scenes with his mobile phone. The ghost was then over in a matter of minutes and luckily without an accident.

“Leadmare follows word”
When the loud cry “Suleika!” came out of a nearby circus tent, the herd promptly turned. “Suleika is our lead mare, she follows us at every word,” said Roy William, camel trainer and one of the bosses at Circus Alfons William.

All returned by myself
Shortly before that, he had been awakened in his caravan because the desert animals had come through the fence around the area on Oberndorfer Strasse. “Perhaps they have pulled the lock with their mouths, these animals are very adept at that,” the circus man suspects.

There was no need to catch the camels on the nearby main road. All of their own accord returned to their 50 four-legged “circus colleagues” (horses, llamas, donkeys, etc.). William wants to keep an even closer eye on his cheeky runaways during the upcoming guest appearances in Tyrol (including from 15 to 19 June in Ebbs).
