10 people shot dead – Alleged perpetrator (18) indicted by Buffalo

Date:

The suspected gunman was charged about three weeks after the deadly shooting at a supermarket in the American city of Buffalo. The 18-year-old is accused of opening fire with an assault rifle in a supermarket in mid-May, killing ten people and injuring three others.

He was charged with 25 counts, including domestic terrorism and murder as a hate crime, prosecutors said Thursday. The indictment had previously been read to the boy in court.

Likely racist motive for action
The suspect was immediately arrested at the crime scene in mid-May. The investigators assume a racist motive on the part of the suspect – eleven of the 13 victims had dark skin.

manifesto appeared
A 180-page manifesto had also appeared on the Internet containing racist and violent statements attributed to the accused. There is also talk of the “Great Replacement Theory”, a conspiracy myth of the far right. Accordingly, non-white members of other religions work specifically to “replace” white Christians of European descent.

The video that Peyton G. streamed live on the internet during his attack also shows how the heavily armed man initially aimed at a white person, but then quickly ran on and even said “sorry”.
