A group of armed individuals opened fire in a concert hall in Russia’s capital on Friday. Moscowwhere two explosions also took place.
There is still no reliable count of the number of victims (Russian media speak of at least 40), but Several indications indicate that we may experience a large number of deaths: More than 70 ambulances have already arrived outside the building, in images shared on social networks you can see several people shooting indiscriminately into the crowd and the city’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, is already speaking of a “terrible tragedy” .
“Today a terrible tragedy occurred in (…) the Crocus Town Hall. My condolences to the families of the dead,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to sources consulted by the Russian news agency TASS, those present at the event are being evacuated. The shots could have been fired from a machine gun.
Later a fire broke out in the building, which the fire brigade tried to extinguish with helicopters.
The attackers have not yet been arrested and the attack is still ongoing.
