In Middle Franconia, Bavaria, a man suffered several broken bones in an elevator accident. After a short ride, the elevator sank and descended about three to four meters into the basement without braking. That’s where he eventually crashed, police said Friday.
The 67-year-old wanted to take the elevator to the first floor of a medical center in Neustadt an der Aisch. He suffered several broken bones in the accident. Firefighters rescued him and the German was then taken to a hospital.
Elevator was regularly maintained
The cause of the accident was initially unclear. So far it is assumed that there was a technical defect, according to a police spokesperson. The lift was regularly maintained and also had a valid TÜV quality mark.
