Commemoration of 130 victims – National day of mourning after terrorist attack in Moscow

Date:

On a national day of mourning this Sunday, Russia will commemorate the more than 130 victims of the terrorist attack on a concert hall near Moscow. The terrorist militia Islamic State had already claimed responsibility for the attack on Saturday evening, but Russian President Putin saw a “Ukrainian trail” behind the attack. Kiev denied any involvement in the crime.

Abroad, Serbia and Nicaragua took part in the commemoration with their own days of mourning. At least 133 people, including three children, were killed in the attack on Friday evening. More victims are said to be found under the rubble.

The four main suspects in the terrorist attack were brought to the Russian capital for questioning on Saturday evening. As state agency Tass reported, the four men were driven in a high-security column to the so-called investigative committee.

Life imprisonment looms
A request for an arrest warrant should be submitted to the court in the coming days. They all face life imprisonment. Eleven suspects were arrested after the attack.

Zelensky rejects Putin’s allegations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy categorically rejected Putin’s attempts to attribute shared responsibility for the attack to Ukraine with unsubstantiated accusations.

“Assholes want to blame us”
“Of course, after what happened in Moscow yesterday, Putin and the other bastards are just trying to shift the blame to someone else,” Zelensky said in his daily video address on Saturday evening. The Russian side always uses the same methods. “And they always blame others.”

Zelensky accused Russia of spreading terror itself. Russians come to Ukraine to burn down cities “and try to shift the blame to Ukraine.” They tortured and raped people and blamed the victims. “They have brought hundreds of thousands of their own terrorists here, on Ukrainian soil, to fight against us, and they don’t care what happens in their country.”

The Kremlin boss sticks to his conspiracy theory
In a speech broadcast on state television on Saturday afternoon, Putin spoke about Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the terrorist attack. Referring to four of the arrested men, he said: “They tried to hide and headed towards Ukraine, where a window had been prepared so they could cross the border.”

“Thousands of Christians attacked”
The IS propaganda channel Amak published a photo on Saturday showing four people whose faces were blurred. The fighters, armed with assault rifles, pistols and bombs, dealt Russia a “severe blow.” The attack targeted ‘thousands of Christians in a music hall’. ISIS fights the followers of Christianity and considers them infidels.

50 victims identified, thousands of blood donations
Meanwhile, forensic experts continued to identify the victims. By Saturday evening, 50 victims had already been identified. Many people in the concert hall were burned beyond recognition, it was said. Nearly 4,000 people donated blood in the evening to facilitate medical treatment of the injured. Authorities said at least 147 people were injured, many of whom were in critical condition.

More bodies suspected under the rubble
According to Governor Vorobyov, the clearing and rescue work in the heavily damaged concert hall should last at least until Sunday evening. There may be more bodies under the rubble.
