On Sunday morning, a fire broke out in a residential building in the center of Schwaz, in the Tyrolean lowlands. This was followed by a large-scale action by the fire brigade in the densely built-up city center. Five residents and several neighbors were brought to safety.
Around 5:30 am, the Tyrolean control center reported a house fire on Schwazer Lahnbachgasse, right in the city center. “When we arrived, it was quickly determined that the attic or attic was already completely on fire,” said fire brigade operations manager Hilmar Baumann.
House and adjacent buildings evacuated
The emergency services initially managed to get five people out of the fire station. “They then confirmed to us that the house was empty,” Baumann continued. The extinguishing attack was then started immediately. In addition, the neighboring houses were gradually evacuated.
A total of eleven residents were affected or evacuated. One person was probably slightly injured. However, this could be delivered on site. In addition to several fire brigades from across the region, police and rescue services were also present.
The cause of the fire is currently unclear
The attic of the affected house burned down completely. The emergency services were able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring buildings. Nothing is currently known about the cause of the fire.
