A teenager in Vienna-Hütteldorf hears his mother screaming in fear as she waits for the tram. A drunk man harassed the woman. The son runs over and pushes the suspected attacker away. Because he fell so hard that he suffered serious facial injuries, the boy ended up in court.
A mother and her daughter were harassed by a drunk at the terminus of tram line 49 in Vienna-Hütteldorf in November. “Leave us alone,” the woman screamed when the man suddenly came very close to her and made biting movements.
Son sat on a bench to the side
Her son, who is sitting separately on the couch, hears the terrified scream. The 17-year-old runs over and pushes the suspected attacker away. This fell so badly that the jawbone and nose bone broke.
The son and a co-involved person now had to answer for negligently causing serious bodily harm in the Wiener Landl: “I was afraid of my mother, I have never heard her scream like that,” he justifies himself. – “I’m glad he intervened, I was so scared. Because I didn’t know what was going to happen,” says his mother.
Raimund Schüller, the teenager’s lawyer, sees moral courage shown by his client: “In the hospital, the drunk man allegedly made racist comments to a doctor,” the lawyer reports – the judge pronounces an acquittal. Legally binding.
