Murder trial in Ried – “Grandpa” stabbed: Nurse in court as a woman

Date:

The court judges keep a special eye on the suspect during the trial of a man from Innviertel who was stabbed to death. Because the 24-year-old feels like a woman and wants to be treated or addressed as such. The judge, public prosecutor and lawyer comply with this wish.

There was eager anticipation of how the judge would address the suspect at the hearing in the jury courtroom in Ried, who would prefer to be a woman and would like to be called ‘Vanessa’. According to the indictment, the 24-year-old Slovak is clearly biologically male and is being charged as such, namely murder.

The defendant, who everyone called “Vanessa” at their request, appeared at the hearing wearing dark clothing, a hoodie and black pants. She wore light makeup and had her dyed hair tied in locks in a ponytail. At the start of the test, the hands trembled noticeably.

Also requested permission
The. or the defendant allegedly killed an 82-year-old protégé with multiple stab wounds as a nurse in Geretsberg on October 5, 2023. He then called his stepdaughter and had himself arrested. The trans nurse’s motive is that he was teased and groped by the senior. Prosecutor Petra Stranzinger sees this as a protective claim that “the victim knew nothing about transsexuality” and, in addition to the conviction, demanded that she be admitted to a forensic institution because “Vanessa” falls in the second highest position according to the report. risk group and the chance of relapse is 76 percent within seven years.

Total intoxication and psychotropic drugs
According to expert Adelheid Kastner, the suspect is healthy but dangerous due to a “combined personality disorder”. However, this disease and the alcohol content of 3.4 per mille including psychotropic drugs (“benzos”) in the blood during the crime do not constitute a reason for incapacity for work. This was contradicted by the lawyer, who sees this mainly in the history of illness (borderline syndrome) and alcohol abuse.

“She was looking for an outlet”
During the interrogation, “Vanessa” admits guilt and mentions a difficult childhood – the divorce of her parents -, a toxic marriage and thus the beginning of an alcohol addiction and serious psychological problems. According to the lawyer, the later victim, who always called “Vanessa” “Grandpa”, probably found out from his siblings that “Vanessa” was not a woman and teased and groped him/her on the day of the crime, but he had previously had an argument about the refusal of chocolate and given beer and an unloaded razor.

Then there was an argument on the phone with her boyfriend in Slovakia, and ‘Vanessa’ didn’t take her medication the day of the crime. “She was looking for an outlet and that was the unfortunate Franz Sch.”, says the prosecutor. “Vanessa” cannot remember the stabbings – there were more than ten involving at least two knives. “But about everything else during the day?” the judge asked. “Because I had been drinking alcohol at the time,” said the suspect, who referred to ‘grandpa’ as ‘the old man’ during the trial.

The jury trial is scheduled all day. The penalty for the murder charge is a maximum of twenty years or even life in prison. The presumption of innocence applies until the final judgment has been rendered.
