Horrible recreational accident late Monday afternoon in East Tyrol: A German paraglider lost control during flight and fell from a height of about 20 meters onto a meadow slope. The 45-year-old was seriously injured and had to be flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
The German paraglider pilot left Obertilliach around 5:30 PM and wanted to fly to Sillian via Kartitsch. “In the municipality of Kartitsch, between the 2,115 meter high Dorfberg and the mountain station of the Dorfberg lift, the paraglider was pushed onto the north slope due to thermals. He then quickly lost altitude,” police reported.
