The Lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, has assured that the Basque government will Siemens Gamesa Stability Process after the takeover bid (takeover bid) of the parent company Siemens Energy, and that they will bid industrial tools to sustain activity of the company in Zamudio, “as we do with all companies”.

“We are going to monitor this operation and its decisions very closely with the aim that Siemens finds in Euskadi the necessary ecosystem to strengthen activity, cooperation with suppliers and, above all, employment,” Urkullu said this Friday, in plenary scrutiny held by the Basque Parliament, in response to a question about Siemens Gamesa from EH Bildu parliamentarian Iker Casanova.

Urkullu has acknowledged that the company’s results are not good and that a solution needs to be found, but he has emphasized that the Basque government has received a specific commitment from the company to maintain employment. In this sense, the lehendakari have said that “this does not reassure them at all”, but that the company’s message was clear, and “far from generating turbulence and fear, the idea is to continue maintain a direct relationship with the company”.

In this regard, the Lehendakari explained that Siemens Energy has opted for a new reorganization that will provide stability to the company at a time of uncertainty in the sector and that the Basque government has expressed its concern about the situation and about the horizon for the workers. In this sense, he recalled that the CEO of Siemens, Christian Bruch, emphatically stated that the workers are not the problem.

“We know the framework and we know that this is a private operation, but we have the experience in industrial policy that allows us to offer measures that can help bring stability to the activity, always with criteria identical to those which are being offered to the rest of the fabric trade,” he assured.

Urkullu added that the best guarantee for the continuity of Siemens and any company is that “we are able to work together and make our roots in the Basque Country attractive and profitable”.
