According to media reports, spokeswoman for US President Joe Biden, Jen Psaki, plans to leave the White House in late spring. No contract has been signed yet. CNN wrote that Psaki wants to remain a White House spokesperson at least until the end of April.
Several US media outlets, including news site Axios and broadcaster CNN, reported Friday, citing unnamed sources, that Psaki was planning to move to MSNBC.
Does not deny media reports
Psaki declined to confirm or deny the reports. She currently has nothing to announce regarding her next steps, Psaki said at the White House. When asked by a journalist about her possible move, she jokingly replied, “Well, you can’t get rid of me yet.”
Prominent face of the US government
As a spokeswoman for Biden, who answers reporters’ questions almost every day in the White House, Psaki is one of the prominent faces of the US government to the outside world. The 43-year-old had already held key communications positions during then-President Barack Obama’s tenure, including as communications director at the White House and as a spokeswoman for the State Department. Shifts of spokesmen from government headquarters to television stations are not uncommon in the United States.
