In France, strong winds and heavy rain led to power outages and flooding on Saturday. About 6,000 households temporarily had no electricity. According to meteorologists, a foehn storm will rage in Switzerland until Monday.

The storm hit parts of the country on Friday and produced strong gusts of wind. A peak of 141 kilometers per hour was measured on the Piz Martegnas in Graubünden. Several cable cars were shut down or put into service later than planned, including in Central Switzerland on the Rigi Scheidegg and the Pilatus.

One person was injured in the storm: a 60-year-old at the Jakobsbad campsite in Appenzell Innerrhoden. The canopy of a caravan, torn from its anchorage by the storm, fell on them. The woman was taken to a hospital, the canton police reported on Friday evening. The strongest phase of the Föhn storm, which is expected to rage until Monday, was expected on Saturday.
