A 20-year-old from Vienna has now lost his test driver’s license and car. Police officers were able to observe how the young man was racing with a second driver on the A23. He is said to have accelerated his 3 Series BMW to 249 km/h.
Won the race, but lost the test license and the car – that’s how you could sum up the night of Easter Sunday for a 20-year-old speeding offender in Vienna who was caught by the state traffic service. According to police spokesman Markus Dittrich, officers saw the 20-year-old racing with a second driver on the Südosttangente (A23) southbound around 12:45 p.m.
Several road users at risk
The officers gave chase and observed several risky overtaking maneuvers that endangered uninvolved road users. The young man was arrested near Traiskirchen on the (Southern highway A2). The police confiscated his older model 3 Series BMW as well as his driver’s license.
The second speeding offender was able to escape with his vehicle
His opponent – also driving a 3-series BMW – initially escaped from the officers. A report was filed and it was not possible to stop him. He had accelerated his coupe to 132 mph.
