On Sunday evening, a horrific accident drama took place in Tarsdorf (Upper Austria) in front of police officers. A 15-year-old moped rider crashed head-on into a car. The boy had to be resuscitated and later died in hospital from his serious injuries.

The police officers drove their police car in the town of Hofweiden (municipality of Tarsdorf) around 9 p.m. Then the 15-year-old driver of the moped came towards them. When they looked in the rearview mirror, they saw the boy collide head-on with a car coming up behind the patrol car.

The two-wheeler driver was thrown over the roof of a 34-year-old’s car and remained motionless on the ground.

Witnesses provided first aid
Attendees of an adjacent garden party immediately rushed to the accident victim and provided first aid. The officers also turned around and, together with other first responders, began performing CPR. An arriving emergency medical team then cared for the teen.

The 15-year-old was taken to hospital, where doctors fought for his life. Unfortunately, the injuries were too serious and the boy died during the night.

An alcohol test on the driver was positive and his driver’s license was confiscated.
