The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) reminded people on Tuesday about free preventive examinations. More than 400,000 invitations will soon be sent to insured people who have never had a health check or have not had a health check for a long time.
“During preventive examinations, health risks, for example stroke, can be identified and reduced,” says Andreas Krauter, senior ÖGK doctor, in a press release. The sooner a disease is discovered, the better and gentler it can be treated. “Take your time for this important check.”
Recommended every two to three years
A preventive examination is possible once a year free of charge for all insured persons aged 18 and older. It can be performed by all doctors who have a corresponding contract, as well as in the ÖGK health centers. Check-ups are recommended at least every three years for people under 40 and every two years for people over 40.
Interested parties can find information on the health insurance fund’s website and in the insured app “My ÖGK.” In addition, a free service line (0800 501 522) is available from Monday to Friday (8:00 AM to 6:00 PM). You must take the e-card with you and some doctors also offer to check your vaccination certificate.
