One moment, the 23-year-old invited the older man to her apartment because they got along well in private. In the other, the escort girl stabbed him four times in the back with a pocket knife. “Because he called me a crazy bitch,” explains the young woman in the dock of the Vienna Regional Court.
Young, small and beautiful – this is how the suspect at the Vienna Regional Court can be described with certainty. The 23-year-old German has been living in the Austrian capital since November. And works here as an escort girl “Sarah”. That’s how she met a 35-year-old.
Knife rammed in the back after sex
After the programmer used the services of the young woman, and not for the first time, she invited him to her apartment on October 26, 2023. “We also got along well in our private lives,” the prosecutor explains. Until the mood changed after a conversation about the 23-year-old’s ex-boyfriend – and she suddenly rammed a pocket knife into his back four times.
“I didn’t just attack him, but because he called me a crazy bitch,” Sarah explained to the judge. She just wanted to push him from behind, forgetting that she had an unfolded knife in her hand – “Then I caught him.” Mrs. Rat wants to know why she even had such a gun in her purse. “I’ve always had that with me since I was fifteen. I used to watch Criminal Minds. This series made me a little paranoid. I suspected there was a serial killer around every corner.”
“When I see a knife it still bothers me.”
The three additional stab wounds were purely self-defense, according to both the suspect and her defense. “The fact that she stabbed has been objectified. She admits that too. But no, she certainly didn’t want to kill him. She stabbed because she was afraid,” said lawyer Andreas Schweitzer against the attempted murder charge. After the first ‘accidental’ injury, it was the suitor who wrestled the 23-year-old to the ground and punched her in the face at least seven times.
“I am more aggressive when I am drunk and people are aggressive towards me,” the young German admits. “But I really thought he was going to hit my head.” In stark contrast to this is the statement of the 35-year-old, who only wanted to be interviewed in the absence of the escort girl: He was still afraid of her. “When I see a knife it still bothers me.”
He describes the attack in the Vienna-Favoriten apartment very differently: “She pushed me and said I looked like her ex. Then she started hitting me. Suddenly I saw the knife. Then we fell to the ground. I lay on top of her and realized my back was hot and bleeding. And she stabbed again.” And even as he turned away, the 23-year-old continued to attack him from behind. “Look, I can kill you,” she allegedly shouted at him. The victim fought the young woman purely out of defense with his fists.
The suspect continued to rage even days after his arrest
What Sarah is capable of is also evident from her behavior with the police after her arrest. She fought back against the officers with her hands and feet, injuring some. Two days later, she was still rioting in her cell and attacking prison guards. She could not even be brought before the judge for detention and legal protection; the decision on pre-trial detention was made through the food hatch to her cell.
“An overly defensive act”
However, a psychiatric report confirms that the 23-year-old is healthy. The requirements for housing in a forensic therapeutic center are not met. Defense lawyers Andreas Schweitzer and Sebastian Lesigang ask the jury for leniency: “What she did here was simply exaggerated. An overly defensive act.”
Whether the jury agrees to excessive self-defense will probably not be known until late this afternoon. But what is already clear to the 35-year-old victim: “I absolutely will not go to the red light district anymore.”
