A 34-year-old Hungarian is currently facing brutal assault charges at the Feldkirch Regional Court. The descriptions of his ex-girlfriend are shocking.
Even for experienced court reporters, the victim’s statements are almost unbearable. During Thursday’s trial, the 35-year-old Hungarian tearfully described the time she spent with the defendant. “Once he grabbed me by the back of the head and hit my head on the table. Then he grabbed my arm and threw me to the ground. Another time he was so aggressive that he smeared dog poop on my face and clothes.”
Her ex-boyfriend’s goal was always to humiliate her. That’s why she cried a lot at that time. During the four-year relationship, there were repeated arguments between the pair due to the suspect’s drug history – and the arguments often escalated into brutal violence: “But it wasn’t his beating that was the worst, but the psychological cruelty. To this day I still believe I am worthless.”
“I always blamed myself”
When the judge asked why she wanted to move into an apartment in the Bregenzerwald with her tormentor, the woman replied: “He could also be nice. So I kept forgiving him and ended up blaming myself. He often said: Come on, let’s leave everything behind and start again.” It was only when the woman found out that the 34-year-old brutalist was also cheating on her that she filed a complaint.
The defendant, in turn, still denies all allegations. The trial was postponed until May, after which more witnesses will be heard.
