The Viennese Ana S. was falsely accused of kidnapping. She’s still waiting for an apology. Now she talks to the “Krone” about the search for her and her daughter.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, the now confirmed death of two-year-old Danka from Serbia became a red-white-red criminal case. As reported, Danka’s mother recognized her kidnapped daughter on a video in Vienna. The alleged kidnapper – Ana S. (36) from Floridsdorf.
Ana S. already reported in the magazine “Kosmo” how she became aware of the manhunt. Compared to the “Krone”, the Floridsdorf resident is now raising the bar.
“Kron”: Mrs. S., it is now a sad certainty. Little Danka is dead. How did you find out and how do you feel, since your fate is inevitably linked to that of the girl?
Ana S.: I am shocked. On different levels. I just got home from work. Police officers informed me that Danka has apparently now been found. But I’m still shocked that people all over Europe were wrongly looking for me.
Have the Serbian police already apologized for the misunderstanding?
No. I haven’t heard anything yet.
Are you expecting an apology?
I would like to know how this came about. My daughter looks very different and is also a year older. I don’t know how you can confuse these two kids. Anyway, I haven’t been to Serbia in years. I am a born Romanian and have been living and working in Austria since 2015.
Since when exactly did you know you were wanted?
At Easter we were invited to friends’ homes in Wels. Then colleagues who also know my daughter called me. They said there was an international search for me and my mother. In any case, I wanted to clear up the misunderstanding. But they didn’t really help me. I’ve been going through hell since Sunday! I just want everyone to know: we are not criminals and have not kidnapped a child!
