Unusual deployment of fire brigade and police on Saturday in Salzburg: part of the Residenzplatz had to be cordoned off due to a swarm of insects.
Walkers were really shocked on Saturday when they suddenly encountered countless bees in the middle of Salzburg’s old town. It is believed that the flock was looking for a new home.
Barrier remains
On Saturday morning, a foot patrol from the town hall police station happened to pass by and was informed by a passerby. The officials immediately took necessary action. The result was an operation by the professional fire brigade of Salzburg.
Part of the area was cordoned off at short notice to prevent inconvenience for cyclists and pedestrians. The barrier remains in place overnight so that the last bees can fly into the boxes in peace and be taken out of the city.
