Ukraine has apparently attacked the Russian-controlled nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia with drones. One exploded on the dome of a power plant but caused no damage, it was reported Sunday. The international nuclear agency IAEA confirmed there were “three direct hits”. “This is a no-go,” warned IAEA chief Rafael Mariano Grossi.

According to Grossi, “at least three direct hits against the containment of the main reactor of the nuclear power plant” have been confirmed. “This should not happen,” he said on Platform X. We strongly recommend refraining from actions that endanger nuclear safety.

Here, IAEA chief Rafael Mariano Grossi comments on the incident on X:

Truck damaged near the company canteen
According to the Russian-appointed government of the Ukrainian power plant, three employees were injured in the shelling; the IAEA confirmed only one accident victim (see message below). The nuclear power plant is located near the front line. Both sides have often accused each other of shelling the facility. Reuters cannot verify its accuracy.
