Time is becoming an increasingly scarce resource and volunteer work is also suffering. Although the number of Styrian volunteers remains constant, they only want to participate on a short-term basis and without obligation. We asked Caritas, the rescue services and the fire brigade what kind of incentives they offer.
“Work quickly, quickly and in the short term – that is the trend,” says Bettina Heuser. As volunteer manager at Caritas in Styria, she has an overview of all areas of volunteer work: “It is easier to find people for short-term commitments – as was recently the case with the Graz train station mission. You register online for an afternoon and can help quickly and without any training.”
