Wild scenes took place in the Mödling district on Friday morning. A duo resisted a stop and ran from the police. The chase ended with an accident that injured three officers.
What should have been a routine check turned into a wild chase in Perchtoldsdorf. The officers saw an older, dilapidated vehicle and tried to stop the driver. But he didn’t think about it. On the contrary: he gave full throttle. At far too high speed and through red lights, the man drove to neighboring Brunn am Gebirge, where the police were about to position themselves to stop the car.
Turbulent arrest
For reasons that are still unclear, a collision occurred between the getaway car and the patrol car. One police officer was injured, another had to slam on the brakes behind him and was also injured as he tried to avoid the vehicles in front of him. As if that wasn’t enough, one of the two inmates became violent during the arrest attempt and injured a third officer.
Ultimately, however, we managed to handcuff the duo. Why the two men, who are not Austrian citizens, avoided being stopped in the legally registered car is still under investigation.
