Two young men were seriously injured today, Saturday, early in the evening when they were transported from a maypole in Fusch on Großglocknerstrasse. Both were taken to nearby hospitals.
The two locals sat on the trunk while transporting the maypole, which was pulled out of the valley by a tractor on Großglocknerstrasse (L271). Shortly before the municipal border with Bruck, the drawbar of the trailer broke in a bend.
This probably caused the two young men to end up under the trunk of the tree. The rescuers were immediately alerted. The Red Cross was on site with an emergency doctor and an ambulance. The Alpin Heli 6 also received a report.
The two seriously injured men were taken to the hospitals in Zell am See and Schwarzach.
The Fusch police and volunteer fire brigade were also present. The L271 was closed during the operation.
